Switzerland

It has long been known that Switzerland is not as neutral as it claims to be. Nevertheless, on official theater stages, the nation clings tightly to this myth—not by accident, but because the neutrality story is useful politically, economically, and for Switzerland’s image. Neutrality serves as a brand, as a diplomatic backdrop, as a pretext for posing as the mediator with a clean conscience.

But what histories, what voices get lost in this formulaic self-presentation? Who performs memory, who gets forgotten in the repetition of the same old neutrality theatre? At a long table in the centre of the room, bright minds from the realms of art, science, and activism will discuss these questions with guests from the more or less neutral neighbouring nations of Austria and Germany.

An evening somewhere between discussion and performance—open, diverse, uncomfortable, and by no means neutral! Moderated by Hannan Salamat and Fatima Moumouni.

With Hannan Salamt, Fatima Moumouni, Max Czollek, and many more.
