The launch event for this year’s Chemnitz Intercultural Weeks, hosted in collaboration with Chemnitz European Capital of Culture 2025 gGmbH, demonstrates how neighbourliness is lived in the city. The Festival of Cultures is an open invitation to be creative and active, to listen and to dance to music together, to discover global cuisine and, last but not least, to get to know your neighbours better.

The two-week event series will kick off with a welcoming speech by Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky and Superintendent Frank Manneschmidt. Afterwards, the Chemnitz Peace Prize will be awarded by the citizens association FUER CHEMNITZ e. V.

Chemnitz’s Intercultural Weeks are spearheaded and organized by the migration minister in close collaboration with Chemnitz European Capital of Culture 2025 gGmbH, the Migrationsbeirat (Migration Advisory Board), the Sozialamt (Social Welfare Office), the AGIUA e. V. Migrationssozial- und Jugendarbeit association, the Frauenzentrum Lila Villa im Verein akCente e. V., and the support of numerous Chemnitz associations and initiatives. Chemnitz European Capital of Culture 2025 will participate in the opening program as part of the haamit heimaten festival with its main projects European Workshop for Culture and Democracy and Living Neighbourhoods.
