What is heimat, and how are different heimaten shaped? Who’s missing from official narratives, and how can the gaps be made visible? What might it look like to achieve shared memory when many individuals have a say?
What the audience can expect:
Photographs—personal insight into German identities
Talks—listening and joining in
City tours—histories experienced in the midst of the city
Encounters—with people, ideas, Spezi and Brezn
Stop by. Find a new heimat. Open to everyone, no knowledge background required—just curiosity.
From the 11th to the 30th of September 2025, selected motifs from the photography project Der Ort zwischen uns – مكان بيننا – מקום בינינו by photographer Jasmin Breidenbach will be on display at the Münchner Forum für Islam (MFI, Munich Forum for Islam)—a visual plea for dialogue, plurality, and shared memory among different backgrounds, friendships, and political realities.
Interweaving Heimaten is a part of Memory Matters, a European programme of the CPPD—Coalition for Pluralistic Public Discourse, which advocates for diverse memory cultures and transnational exchange.
