In 2023, Heidelberg’s hip-hop culture was officially added to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. One of the key factors in the decision was the central role played by people from Heidelberg in the establishment of German rap. Using the German language in rap, addressing social injustices, and creating self-empowering structures were historical developments that permanently altered the understanding of Heimat in Germany. Toni Landomini, aka Toni-L, will describe these practices to guests first-hand and discuss past and future developments in a post-migrant society.
In cooperation with the Freies Hip-Hop Institut
