heimA(R)Ten II: Afro-Diasporic Frequencies explores Black diasporic perspectives on home, homelands, and belonging. How do experiences connect across geographical spaces, communities, languages, and cultures? And what becomes visible when the diaspora is understood not only as an experience of separation, but also as a multifaceted form of connection, knowledge, and community?
Through collage, sound, and film, the project strives to create spaces for artistic exploration, encounter, and exchange. In two-day workshops, participants will explore diasporic experiences and translate them into visual and auditory forms. The works that result will be presented in a public exhibition at Bahnhof Langendreer in Bochum.
An accompanying film program expands upon the diasporic perspectives explored and includes EUphoria (2018) by the collective Black Speaks Back, Assembly (2025) by Rashaad Newsome, the Afrofuturist musical Neptune Frost (2021) by Saul Williams and Anisia Uzeyman, and Children of the Diaspora (2024) by Sabrina Onana.
heimA(R)Ten II combines artistic practice with diverse marginalized perspectives and reimagines homes/homelands, transcending the geographical boundaries of belonging—from Cologne to Bochum and beyond.
