In German, with brief prompts in English when needed.
What does Heimat (home/homeland) mean when history is always in motion? Who’s heard, who’s forgotten? And which histories tie people together? Heimaten in Motion is an invitation to a day-and-a-half-long artistic laboratory where histories are jointly reexperienced, interrogated, and shared. The point of departure is the ‘Connecting the Dots’ method developed by glokal e. V. as a means of critiquing power structures. Colonial continuities, historical threads of connection, and perspectives towards resistance are explored.
Quotations, historical events, and personal experiences support the creation of images, texts, spaces, and performative interventions. Rather than a classical theatrical production, we create an accessible installation in the WeltRaum of EPIZ Berlin—a place where histories collide, perspectives shift, and new connections emerge.
Participants don’t need any experience in theatre or art. All that’s required is curiosity, one’s own perspective, or the desire to attempt something together. We interrogate, listen, experiment, and design—while perhaps bringing our own ideas of Heimat into motion.
On the first day, we plunge into ‘Connecting the Dots’ and develop initial artistic ideas. On the second day, these give rise to the WeltRaum featuring performative moments. The results are documented for a three- to five-minute short film.
Drop by, share your perspective, and design a space with us in which Heimat isn’t fixed, but put in motion!
